Department of Air Defence

About the Department

The department forms one of the research/pedagogic work centres of the Faculty of Military Technology. It is tasked with preparing university-graduated specialists of Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) and Air Automated Command and Control Systems (C2).

Further, it focuses on:

  • Operational and combat use of GBAD units.
  • C2 systems and procedures.
  • GBAD tactics.
  • Operational analysis.
  • Air force simulators and trainers.
  • Weapon and service systems.
  • Guidance and control systems for interception missiles.

The department’s research focuses on proposals, development and utilization of GBAD units as a part of air and ground domain. The department takes part in solving the defence research tasks for the Czech Army in the fields of command and control, training, operations, the use of air defence processes in modelling and simulation and their utilization in training systems.

The department guarantees the Air Defence study programme as Master’s studies. The emphasis is laid on theoretical knowledge of electrical and mechanized engineering as well as managerial side, connected with the use of IT, operations control for automated command systems and control and utilization of GBAD and C2 units.

Since 2000, every year in April, traditional air defence conference is held at the department of Air defence, in Brno, Czech republic. See link below.
