Department of Military Robotics
Research
The department’s research activity is focused on solving tasks related to the development, modernization and use of technical and programmatic parts of RAS and the use of artificial intelligence for the benefit of the MoD/AČR. The department focuses on monitoring development trends, collecting and analysing information about RAS and its technologies. The department conducts research with the priority goal of acquiring new knowledge and skills in the scientific field of cybernetics and the subfield of robotics. The focus of science and research is oriented towards the development of cybernetization and robotization, especially unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) and air vehicles, and their cooperation, development of the ability to eliminate the enemy’s cyber and robotic means. In cooperation with civilian companies, it participates in the development of new UGVs. The department participates in the research of mathematical methods, algorithms, in the areas of sensory information processing, machine learning, optical image processing, the theory of mathematical optimization of processes, parallelization of calculations. It also addresses the use of RAS in the operational environment, explores the possibilities of algorithmization/parallelization and computational processing of key processes, the development of artificial intelligence methods applicable to the effective control of robotic systems in the future operational environment, the ethical aspects of the use of RAS, the use of RAS to increase the capabilities of the 21st century soldier.
