Department of Mechanical Engineering

About the Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Military Technology, University of Defence provides education and conducts research and expert activities in the fields of materials engineering, manufacturing technologies, engineering mechanics, and military technology. The Department is organised into two specialist groups responsible for teaching, research, and expert activities in cooperation with the Czech Armed Forces, industrial partners, and research institutions.

Areas of Expertise

The Materials Science, Manufacturing Technologies and Mechanics Group conducts teaching, research, and development activities in the fields of materials engineering, manufacturing technologies, engineering mechanics, metrology and quality management, structural mechanics and dynamics, elasticity and strength, machine elements, thermomechanics, and fluid mechanics. Experimental research forms an important part of the Group’s activities, with a particular focus on the evaluation of materials and manufacturing processes and on the mechanical properties of engineering materials.

The Military Technology Assessment Group provides specialist and expert services in the field of military technology, focusing on the assessment of the technical condition and mechanical behaviour of structural components and assemblies. Its expertise draws primarily on engineering mechanics, structural mechanics, and materials engineering.

Teaching

The Department provides specialised courses at all levels of higher education and contributes to professional training courses for members of the Czech Armed Forces, as well as to the education of international students.
